2010 Baseball Schedule
♦ Softball Meeting Any girls interested in playing softball next year, please remain in the cafeteria
after break today.
♦ Uniform Violations We are beginning to see a few violations to the uniform code. Please refer
to all guidelines listed in the handbook. The main issues are with bottom garments for girls in grades 5-12. Please
abide by the uniform code below. This is the codes as stipulated in the handbook. Bottoms: Plaid skirts (skirts
hemmed to the top of the knee); khaki shorts hemmed to the top of the knee; khaki low-rise slacks; khaki skorts to be
4 inches from the CENTER of the knee cap; any belt with slacks or shorts. NOTE: Beginning, Friday, Feb. 12th students not abiding by the dress code
will be sent home.
♦ Basketball Uniforms Basketball players please turn your uniforms in to your coach. All uniforms
should be washed before turning them in.
♦ Elementary Valentine Dance The Junior Class is having an Elementary Valentines Dance for students in grades
3-6. The dance will be in the Cafeteria on Firday night, Feb. 12th from 7p.m. until 9 p.m. Admission will be $5.
Also, snapshot pictures will be sold for $2 each. Light refreshments will be provided. The dress code for this
event will be dressy/casual. Students need to have permission slips signed by the parents to attend the dance.
These can be turned in to your teacher or they may be turned in at the door. Thank you for making this a successful
fundraiser. Permission slips and information are being sent home today.
♦ Valentine Dinner The baseball team will be hosting a Valentine Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 13th in
the gym. Prime Rib will be served, along with potota, salad, roll, dessert, and tea. The cost for a single dinner
will be $15 and the cost for a couple dinner will be $30. Tables will be arranged on the gym floor and the baseball
players will be your servers for the evening. If you do not wish to dine in, take out plates will be available.
Please contact a baseball player or the school office if you would like to make a reservation or purchase a take out plate.
The deadline to respond is Friday, February 12th.
♦ Beauty Review The Who's Who and Beauty Review will be held on Saturday, February 27th beginning
at 6:00 p.m.
♦ Cheerleader Tryouts CHeerleader Tryouts will be held in April. The handbook policy for cheerleader
selection has been amended as follows:
A student must meet all of the conditions below to be eligible to participate
in CHCS cheerleader tryouts. She must also pay a tryout fee and submit a signed permission and commitment form. Eligibility: 1.
A cheerleader must have a grade average of "70" or above average in each subject they are taking before elections.
This average will consist of the first 3 nine week averages. 2. At the end of May, the cheerleader must have passed all
classes or will be dismissed from the squad. 3. An alternate cheerleader will be selected to fill the position of rule
violators. 4. Student must be in good financial standing with the school and have no outstanding debts for tuition or
other expenses. 5. Student must be pre-registered for the next school year. 6. If a cheerleader misses a practice,
she will not be allowed to cheer at the pep rally or the game but will be required to attend the pep rally and game. 7.
If a cheerleader has an unexcused absence from school on the day of a game, she will not be allowed to cheer in that game
(absence guidelines as set in this handbook). Squad Selection: Cheerleader tryouts will be held in April. Tryouts will be judged by 2 National Cheerleader Association judges.
The judges will be asked to score all the participants. The cheerleaders will be selected in the following manner: one (1)
from each grade with the highest scores from the participants in that grade, making a total of three (3) cheerleaders. The
other cheerleaders will be chosen based on points up until the natural breaking point. There will be a minimum of twelve (12)
cheerleaders, not to exceed fifteen (15). After the cheerleaders are elected, they will sign an agreement of participation.
There will be various meetings and deadlines.
♦ CHCS Star Student and Star Teacher Cody Thomas, a senior at CHCS has received the honor of Star Student. The
Star Student is chosen based on composite ACT scores. Each star student is responsible for selecting a teacher
who has helped shape their academic life. Cody has selected Mrs. Lib Clark to receive the Star Teacher Award.
Sam Hudson
Sam Hudson, 6th grade student
at CHCS is in Honduras on a medical mission trip. He is accompanied by his grandfather. Please pray for a safe trip
for Sam as he continues his mission through this week. I am sure that he will have
so much to share with us when he returns. He is scheduled to return on
Sat. Feb. 6th.

♦ 2nd Nine Weeks and Semester Honor Rolls
♦ Pee Wee Basketball We have contacted several school that are interested in playing more Pee Wee Basketball
for the 5th and 6th grades. We are in the process of trying to schedule some games, please be patient as we are attempting
to schedule these at a very busy time of year. I will post any scheduled games when available.
♦ Amendment to the Handbook At any chaperoned event sponsored by CHCS, only CHCS students of the allowed age
for the event shall be permitted to attend. However, each student shall be allowed to bring with him/her one guest
who shall be known to the school at least three days prior to the event..
♦ CHCS Parker Uniform Code The code to use when ordering CHCS items from Parker Uniform is 8059.

You may print the registration
forms for the 2009-2010 school year on-line, but you must come to the office to register and fill out your FACTs forms.
The forms for FACTS can not be mailed.
Policy regarding supervision
As stated in the
CHCS handbook: A faculty member
will be on duty at 7:30 a.m. in the high school building and in the elementary school building. All other faculty members
will be on duty beginning at 7:45 a.m. A faculty member will also be on duty from the time of school dismissal until
3:15.

- Al suffered a heart attack on Thursday, Feb. 4th. He is in the hospital in Jackson.
